Shaping The Future of Yoga

The Therapeutic Yoga Institute was created with the intention to elevate yoga education and foster new yoga teachers in their journey of sharing yoga.

Welcome to the Therapeutic Yoga Institute, founded by the serendipitous meeting of Julianne Hutchcraft from Kansas City and Prema Snyder from Costa Rica. Their shared passion for yoga and diverse backgrounds forged a complementary collaboration, laying the foundation for the institute. In 2021, Prema, drawn by destiny, walked into Lotus Care KC Yoga Therapy and Wellness, Julianne’s studio in Kansas City, and immediately recognized the potential of yoga therapy. Over the past three years, their relationship evolved from colleagues to friends, and so did their collective intention.

The seed for the Therapeutic Yoga Institute was planted during heartfelt conversations about the current state of yoga education. Both of these women recognized a profound need for higher quality and more relevant training that reconnects yoga with its therapeutic origins. It became clear that they were not just participants in the conversation but contributors, driven by a desire to shape the future of yoga education.

The collaboration stems from the integration of the complementary knowledge and skill sets. Julianne brings expertise in anatomy and physiology, with two decades of experience as a Registered Nurse and over a decade of working in Yoga Therapy with CTB. Prema contributes her experience of residing full time at the Sat Yoga Ashram and her years of working at Nexus Yoga Institute as a faculty teacher supporting hundreds of teachers in graduating from 200-hour and 300-hour programs. Together, their diverse backgrounds form a harmonious blend, creating a unique educational space where aspiring yoga teachers can thrive.

The Therapeutic Yoga Institute stands as a significant contribution to the ongoing evolution of yoga. Prospective students are encouraged to enroll at the Therapeutic Yoga Institute and become integral parts of shaping the future direction of yoga. The Therapeutic Yoga Institute graduates play a crucial role in paving the way for sharing the therapeutic essence of yoga with their local communities, thereby contributing to the overall well-being of individuals. Interested students are encouraged to take the next step in this meaningful pursuit. Enrolling at the Therapeutic Yoga Institute positions them to be benign forces in the dynamic growth of yoga, elevating the standard of how yoga is shared and fostering a deeper and more impactful connection with their communities.

Interdisciplinary Approach

The Therapeutic Yoga Institute offers an interdisciplinary approach to teaching yoga. As yoga research evolves, we recognize the value in learning to adapt and modify yoga to modern life and personal practice, offering a therapeutic focus in our program.

Educational Methodology

The Therapeutic Yoga Institute is designed for yoga students and teachers interested in learning how to teach yoga in a mindful, compassionate way. During training students can expect an inclusive environment that encourages experiential learning.

The 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training provides a scaffolding methodology to learning and teaching. This methodology allows for students to gradually receive, process, integrate and share what they are learning based on their own unique learning style whether visual, auditory, experiential and a combination of all. This method has been proven to foster each individual’s confidence and teaching skill sets, providing a well-rounded level of teaching ability and accountability by their completion of the program.
